Looking for the best schools in India, for your kid? First thing first, well done. Because if you’re here, the chances are, you’re not listening to envious neighbors or annoying uncles. The ones who act like the unofficial ambassadors of that one school where their cousin studied and supposedly became successful. Or the ones who’d manipulate you into admitting your kid in a mediocre school. Rather than pointing you towards the best schools in India. So you need someone to talk through this important decision without bias.
And that’s probably someone like us. Because we happen to know a thing or two about what young people want and especially, what they don’t. Actually, most of our 70,000+ residents at our Stanza Living residences in 20+ cities are young folks living away from home. Young folks who’ve opened up about their experiences as we continue to make their lives easier. Our co-living spaces provide professional housekeeping, on-call laundry services, and yum, homely meals. Plus, we’ve got a one-of-a-kind common area with wide-screen televisions, gaming consoles, and free access to streaming apps. Basically, we’re not one of those coaching institute’s hostels where it feels like less of a home and more like a pressure cooker. Also, we even guide you and your child to make the best career decisions in life. Like we’ve already compiled a list of the top 20 schools in India for you. And yes, you can trust this list. The Asian School in Dehradun is one of the top boarding schools in India. Largely because of their holistic approach to education. But also because the school campus enjoys a breathtaking view of the Himalayas. So it’s totally understandable if you go for a backpacking trip across the mountains every time you fly to Dehradun for a parent-teacher meeting. Pretty good excuse for taking a break from your soul-crushing corporate job, isn’t it?
You’d expect its RK Puram cousin to be on this like, but the Delhi Public School in Vasant Kunj deserves to be in the spotlight as much, if not more. Enough has already been saying about the DPS approach in the classroom. But we also wish to mention its many sports facilities. Basically, over here, your kid won’t have to play basketball, football, and gymnastics all in the same small little field as you did.
The folks at the Dhirubhai Ambani School maintain a 1:7 student-teacher ratio. So remember how your English teacher back in school had to take your math class when the math teacher was on leave? Well, that doesn’t happen here. In fact, at Dhirubhai Ambani International, your kid can pick and choose out of their huge roster of experienced mentors.
The best thing about SSNGIS is its 35-acre lush green campus and environmental science classes. So by the time your child graduates from school, they’d be well-versed in not just math problems, or chemistry formulas. They’d also be conscious of the environment. Some people say that that’s more important for our kids to learn given the state of our planet. And we don’t disagree.
St. Xavier’s Collegiate School is a private boy’s school in Kolkata. Also, their campus has 24×7 surveillance cameras. So unlike our school days, the students at St. Xavier’s won’t be able to heckle teachers from outside the staff room and run off to the next floor before the teacher gets out to catch them. But on the bright side, at least the senior boys won’t be able to pick on kids either. So fair enough.
The courses offered at the Little Flower High School are all about putting an emphasis on ex-curricular. Basically, it’s not one of those schools that keep stressing on good marks until your kid’s love for their hobby dies a slow death. Instead, at Little Flower, they offer plenty of water to help their passions bloom forever.
St. John’s is one of the few schools on this list that have won the National Computer Literacy Awards. Thanks to their super talented faculty and state-of-the-art computer labs. In short, it’s the perfect place for kids who play complex video games and learn using software even when they were in Kindergarten.
The Greenwood International High School was awarded as the Best School in India’. That sounds even more impressive when you find out that it was established as recently as 2004, making it one of the youngest schools on this list. Basically, Greenwood International is the Millie Bobby Brown of all the schools out there, taking over magazine covers and award shows at a young age.
Sainik School is located in the beautiful hill station of Nainital. It has been repeatedly ranked under the top 10 schools in India. And that’s probably why there’s a long line of despots parents fighting amongst each other for their admission forms every year. Kinda like soldiers pushing up on the front line. Not kiddin’.
Apart from its stellar facilities and experienced faculty, the Hyderabad Public School is famous for its iconic architecture. In fact, the central building of the school can give the city’s many historical buildings a run for their money. Basically, admitting your boy here would finally legitimize the misplaced habit of Indian people calling their sons raja beta’.
Mother’s International School is known for its state-of-the-art hostel facilities. They offer comfy rooms, plenty of amenities, and surprisingly good mess food. Though given their name is Mother’s’ International school, it’s bound to be Lil homely, isn’t it?
Life at the Emerald Heights International School is an experience in itself. Thanks to their scenic campus with grand lawns, pretty fountains, and loads of sunlight filtering through the trees. Basically, if Emerald Heights was not a school, but a university, we’d have definitely named it as – well wait for it – a Lovely’ professional university. Ok, sorry, we’ll move on.
The Scindia School is perhaps the most popular name on this list. And their yearly academic record along with a modern curriculum is the reason why. Also, they organize loads – we mean LOADS – of festivals and events throughout the year. Including every other patriotic festival in the country. We think that’s their way of putting the India’ in Scindia, don’t you agree?
Most of us who grew up in India might have heard the name of The Doon School’. And that’s despite the fact that they have rarely spent a buck on marketing themselves. It’s almost all word of mouth. Basically, if The Doon School was a corporate employee, he would have a gazillion followers on LinkedIn without ever posting any pseudo motivational stories to get noticed.
The Yadavindra Public School knows how to create the perfect balance between academics and extracurricular activities. Also, they stress a lot the importance of young people taking care of their health through exercise and yoga. Basically, when your kid graduates from here, they’d be givin’ fitness influencers a run for their money.
The Sanskaar Valley School has the most modern facilities out there. That includes smart classrooms, biometric systems, and a temperature-controlled auditorium. Basically, they pretty much disguise their new-age approach with the name Sanskaar Valley’. Kinda like that cousin who’d make it a point to wear a kurta in every family function just to butter up the oldies, when in reality, all he’s doing is hide the tattoo on his arm saying Mah Life, Mah Rules.
The Treamis School is a CBSE school in Bangalore. The institute believes in providing quality education to its students. And it’s why they only take in an average of 22 students per class. So, unfortunately, backbenchers at Treamis definitely can’t get away with giggling under the table.
The Shri Ram School’s vision is to provide the most modern education to students and at the same time, teach our rich cultural heritage. And that’s probably why they get an unbelievable number of applicants every year. Basically, getting your child admitted to the Shri Ram School would certainly need some divine intervention’ for sure.
Victorious Kidss Educares specializes in introducing tech to improve their learning methods. Take, for example, their computer labs are full of the latest gear including high-end PCs and iPads. And that, let’s be honest, is quite the opposite of our own school days. You know, when the computers would crash halfway through the class and the teacher would teach us to use MS Paint on the blackboard.
One of the top schools in India, Bishop Cotton Boy’s School follows the ICSE board till 10th standard and the ISC board for 12th standard. Also, unlike most big schools, it isn’t located on the outskirts of the city. Plus, it has good school bus facilities too. So avoiding Bangalore’s infamous traffic issues becomes a top incentive when you’re deciding on admitting your kid here.
According to major rankings, these are the best schools in India for sure:
As per the latest record of the Central Government, there are 14,94,052 schools in India.
Although the best schools are spread across various states in India, metro cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai are the ones with the best educational opportunities. That being said, cities like Pune, Ahmedabad, Kochi, and Jaipur aren’t far behind on that list either.
