Cleaning Supplies

First things first, when you’re moving into a new apartment, make sure to get your cleaning supplies in hand. Sure, your landlord might have promised you that it’ll get cleaned before you move in, but it is almost always not done properly. So until and unless you clean your new apartment down to the T, you may end up having a roomie that you never asked for – a spider that keeps making abstract art on your ceilings or a rat that keeps sharing your breakfast without consent, ewwwwwww.

Now, here’s a list of cleaning supplies you should carry with you:

  • Washing powder
  • Brooms, mops, and dustpans.
  • Floor cleaner
  • Toilet cleaner
  • Garbage bags
  • Surface disinfectant

Tool kit

Moving into a new house often means bringing out the Bob The Builder inside you. Whether it’s for putting door hangers for your daily-use jeans or attaching new shelves to keep your favorite books. And you might think calling up a carpenter will solve all your problems, but you can’t really keep calling them for every small little thing, can you? Nope. So if not anything, at least make sure to get a hammer and a few nails. If you can do that, you’d sort of, kind of, well, nail your first week living alone.

Toiletries

We know when you’re moving houses, the first things you pack by instinct (apart from clothes and footwear), are sentimental belongings like your journal or photo frames of you and your dear ones. Which is totally okay. But when you’re answering nature’s call inside your new bathroom, and you’ve forgotten about soap, your younger sibling won’t be there to fetch you one from the shop downstairs. So just make sure you carry these items listed below and flush all your first solo living probs down the toilet, bro.

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Shampoo
  • Sunscreen
  • Hairbrush or Comb
  • Shower Gel/Soap
  • Deodorant
  • Shaver

Extension Cords

No matter what kind of house you move in, there aren’t gonna be enough plug points for you. Thanks to the number of gadgets you use on a daily basis. So unless you want to sleep on your first night with your limbs stretching in random directions, breaking the laws of human anatomy to keep your phone charged, then make sure you buy an extension cord or two when moving in.

First Aid Kit

As we’ve already mentioned, the first week in your new house will need you to get your hands dirty. Dirty is still fine tho. But what if they bump into an old nail-like bumping into a toxic ex without warning? It hurts as much, and the pain won’t be lessened with a 10,000-hour rant with your bestie.
