Of course, we have to end the year singing our hearts out, don’t we? Yes. Even if your vocal cords aren’t your favourite thing in the world. So all you need is a screen, a rad speaker and you’re good to go. And wait, one more thing – penalties for people who wanna get away with lip-syncing in a group. Tsk tsk.

Do a TV Marathon

Well, not all of us will have the time or space to do something extravagant on New Year’s eve. So bingeing your favourite sitcom with your friends can be a cool way to lift your mood. Plus, since it’s the holidays, you won’t even feel guilty about it. After all, there won’t be any pending deadlines to meet (we hope).

Host a Themed Party

Boost up your New Year’s Eve party by throwing in a fun theme. Our personal suggestion? Dress up as your favourite meme of 2021. And here’s a party hack for you, do the Bernie Sanders meme. It would be pretty appropriate for the chilling winter. Plus, you can get away with looking disinterested in case the party goes sour, too.

Do a Gift Swap

Everybody likes gifts, no? So maybe planning a gift swapping party with your roomies would be fun. And if not anything, it will help you trade your secret Santa gifts for simply better ones. Just pray that your secret Santa doesn’t find out tho. Otherwise, a brand new year will come with brand new awkwardness.

Make a Countdown Playlist

Everyone’s made some memories this year, whether good or bad. And we all have our own songs we’ve attached to them. So what’s a better farewell than rewinding the year through those numbers? Even better, if you and each of your roomies choose their favourite song. You’d end up with a pumped-up playlist – or at least a diverse one – in the countdown hours.

This is definitely an exciting way to spice up your New Year’s countdown. Take a lot of paper bags, mark them with hours, and allot one batch to each person in your gang. Then tell them to put a gift of their own choice to their allotted batch. So every time the clock inches an hour closer to the New Year, everyone gets to open a surprise gift. Ninja technique of getting yourself more gifts, you know.

Do a Bonfire

We know it’s difficult to pull off a bonfire in a PG. But we’re sure you’ll find a terrace or veranda to do a small one. And while you’re at it, get some marshmallows too. If one of you plays the guitar, bring that out as well. Basically, this will be like chilling in a music festival’s campsite. But without strangers (or fellow campers) constantly asking you to play Hotel California.
