Top 5 Posh Localities In Mumbai

From Bollywood celebs to business moguls, the posh areas in Mumbai are home to the big shots of the country. Basically, the city is called the country’s financial capital for a reason. Also, it’s not just the bungalows and mansions. The real estate prices of the city’s many apartments climb up as you climb up their floors. Coz if you were putting a price on the view of the Arabian Sea, you’d set it really high, don’t you think? So, there’s your answer.

Now, let’s look closer at the five most posh areas in Mumbai that you can check out and hope to live there at some point. The point where your bank balance starts looking more like your phone number and a lot less like an emergency number.

Juhu

From beaches to Bollywood, most of the things that make Mumbai iconic can be found in the western suburb of Juhu. This area is referred to as the Beverly Hills of Bollywood as the homes of some of the top names from our film industry can be found here. A drive around the neighbourhood will show you the lavish villas of stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar. Out of whom, the latter happens to be the highest taxpayer in the country. So Juhu might be the most posh area in Mumbai, not just in terms of property values but social status as well.

Real estate value: Rs. 5000/sq.ft. to Rs. 50,000/sq.ft.

Malabar Hill

South Mumbai is home to a lot of the posh areas in Mumbai and Malabar Hill is no exception. Located at the southern tip of the city, this is one of the most exclusive pincodes in the city. In fact, if you have a home here, you could end up being neighbours with some of India’s wealthiest and most important personalities. For example, the chief minister of Maharashtra lives here. Imagine knocking on their door and asking for a bit of sugar to borrow. Like any other Indian neighbour.

Real estate value: Rs. 26,000/sq.ft. to Rs. 55,000/sq.ft.

Cuffe Parade

If you Google ‘Mumbai posh area names’, you won’t find a cooler name than Cuffe Parade. Located at the southern tip of Nariman Point, this is a business district with the World Trade Centre of Mumbai and other high-rise corporate buildings. Basically, it’s the kind of area where folks walk around like they came straight out of shows like ‘Suits’ and ‘Billions’.

Real estate value: Rs. 22,000/sq.ft. to Rs. 75,000/sq.ft.

Bandra West

If you don’t get your fill of Bollywood in Juhu, you can head to Bandra West (usually called Bandra, for short) to catch a glimpse of more celebrity homes. Shah Rukh Khan’s abode Mannat and Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartments are both located in this area. But there’s a lot more to Bandra that makes it one of the most posh and fun neighbourhoods.

This is an old locality and a lot of influence of the Portuguese colonists and Goan settlers can be seen in the architecture and the churches in the area. Plus, the famous Band stand is also a popular hangout spot with a great view of the sea. And on top of it, Bandra also has a lot of cafes and restaurants. St Andrews Theatre Bandra Comedy Club and the Otters’ Club also draw a huge crowd of young people with the entertainment on offer. So there’s that too.

Real estate value: Rs. 18,000/sq.ft. to Rs. 50,000/sq.ft.

Worli

You can’t have a list of posh areas in Mumbai without including the commercial hub that is Worli. Most of the MNCs with offices in Mumbai are located in the corporate towers of this area. Along with the high court and various other government buildings. Plus, most of the properties here are sea-facing too. Basically, people who answer ‘beaches’ to the question ‘hills or beaches?’ live here. Who, at the same time, are also super duper rich and prefer living in the city of dreams.

Real estate value: Rs. 16,000/sq.ft. to Rs. 45,000/sq.ft.

So these are some of the most posh localities in Mumbai. Be sure to check them out if you want to explore some of the coolest neighbourhoods in the city.
