Top 5 Posh Localities in Delhi

Posh areas in Delhi are not simply, well, posh areas. Some of them have pin codes that scream two words that we often get to hear in Bollywood movies. ‘Power’ and ‘status’. But given Delhi is the country’s capital and home to a lot of business tycoons, politicians, and B-town celebs, we’re not surprised either. So let’s not waste any more time and start reading about the contenders for the title of ‘the most posh area in Delhi’. But spoiler! Your wallet will start feeling inadequate as you can go on reading. So don’t say we didn’t warn you later.

Lutyens’ Bungalow Zone

Starting from one of the most posh neighbourhoods in the very heart of the city, Lutyens’ Bungalow Zone (LBZ as it is more popularly known) is definitely among the priciest in the city. A majority of the highly attractive properties here are located on Prithviraj Road due to its proximity to the famous Lodhi Gardens. Living here would mean that you share a pin code with some of the country’s biggest names including L K Advani and Sonam Kapoor. And last but not least, it’s a stone’s throw away from Khan Market. The U-shaped market with some stores that’ll make you take a U-turn when you look at their price tags.

Real Estate Value: Rs.38,000/square foot to Rs. 3,00,000/square foot

Panchsheel Park

One of the most well known neighbourhoods in Delhi that’s highly populated by the rich and famous is Panchsheel Park. One of the great amenities of this neighbourhood is the residential development club which has set up a terrace garden, party hall, lounge, swimming pool and cafe for residents to enjoy. Plus, it’s pretty close to hotspots like Deer Park, Siri Fort and Shahpur Jat. And on top of that, it’s super duper green. So green that people living here forget about the Air Quality Index (AQI) of the city. Jk, jk.

Real Estate Value: Rs.13,000/square foot to Rs. 60,000/square foot

Greater Kailash

If you ask a local from Delhi where the best place to live is, they’re likely to point you to the southern part of the city. And if you look at the list of South Delhi posh areas, Greater Kailash is going to be on top. What makes it most famous are the opportunities for shopping as almost all luxury retail brands have an outlet here. It’s also close to the famous M Block market which houses many cafes, lounges and restaurants. Most of the houses in this area are big bad bungalows. Though, you’d also find few affordable housing options for students like studio apartments too. So if your budget is not very limited, you can try your luck in finding a swanky place to live on rent here, good luck

Real Estate Value: Rs. 5,000/square foot to Rs. 70,000/square foot

Gulmohar Park

For posh localities in Delhi that are maintained by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Gulmohar Park is the perfect example. This is one of the relatively newer neighbourhoods in the city and was established by a group of journalists as Gulmohar Park Journalists’ Colony in the 1970s. Currently it’s one of the most peaceful and green neighbourhoods in the busy city. Among the famous names who own homes in the area are some of the city’s best journalists, lawyers and even Amitabh Bachchan. So don’t be surprised if the real estate prices are high here. You gotta have the big bucks to call Big B your neighbour, don’t you?

Real Estate Value: Rs. 14,000/square foot to Rs.60,000/square foot

Hauz Khas

No list of posh areas in Delhi can be complete without mentioning the famous area of Hauz Khas Village. Located in the heart of the city and easily connected to all other parts by the Delhi metro, this area contains a variety of bungalows, multi-storey buildings and apartments. Since the neighbourhood is quite self-sufficient, you’ll be able to find everything you need right here, from parks to shopping complexes, from roadside markets to restaurants. Even if you can’t afford a pincode in this area, you have plenty to do as a visitor as you can check out the famous cafes, graffiti lined alleyways, and the famous Hauz Khas fort.

Real Estate Value: Rs. 15,000/square foot to Rs. 50,000/square foot

So there you have it. These are some of the five most posh localities in Delhi. Whether you’re aiming to own a house in these areas, rent accommodation or just visit, you can be sure to make yourself comfortable in any of these neighbourhoods.
