In fact, some of them are pretty doable even for first-timers.

1. Kuppar Peak

One of the most popular weekend treks from Delhi is Kuppar Peak or Kuppar Bugyal. This trek starts from Giri Ganga that you can reach by road. Or you can choose an additional trek from Kharapathar too. From Giri Ganga, the trail is clearly marked and takes around 5 hours to complete, depending on your speed and experience. You’ll get to see thick forests and splendid panoramic views from the peak. Basically, plenty of Insta-worthy frames for you to capture.

2. Gurson Bugyal

One of the best weekend treks from Delhi is to the Gurson Bugyal meadow. The trek starts from Auli, which you can reach via an overnight bus from the city. Or a personal vehicle. The 3-kilometres long trail takes around 4 hours to complete. Out of the many, many trails here, the most popular one happens to be called the Lord Curzon’s trail. So make sure to check it out.

3. Triund

If you live in Delhi, you’ve probably taken a weekend trip to Dharamshala or Mcleodganj at some point. But if you’ve missed out on the trek to Triund, this is your chance to make it happen. This is one of the best places for trekking in Delhi due to the ease of the trail and the beauty it has to offer. The trek starts from Dharamkot and can be covered in 5 hours. There are various stops marked along the trail including temples and cafes and you’ll get to see a gorgeous view of the Kangra Valley too.

4. Benog Tibba

If you’re planning a weekend trip from Delhi to Mussoorie, take some time to trek to Benog Tibba. The trek starts from Clouds End Resort and can take up to 7 hours. So it’s good for adventurous trekkers who have some experience. The first stop on the trail is the Benog Mountain Quail Sanctuary and there is a well-marked path towards the top to guide you on your way. Don’t miss out on the view of the Happy Valley from the summit, that’s the reward that’ll be waiting for you.

5. Bijli Mahadev Temple

Another moderate trek for the adventurous hiker is the one from Jana Village to Bijli Mahadev Temple. An overnight bus will get you to the starting point. The trek takes 6-7 hours to complete. This means you can definitely undertake this trek on a weekend and be back in time for work on Monday. There are various scenic spots en route including Matikochar, Kais Wildlife Sanctuary and Naggar. So keep that in mind.

6. Khar Myundari

A bus or drive to Setan village will bring you to the starting point of this trek. A must for any nature lover, this trek is actually good for beginners. It takes around 3-4 hours to cover, and although the road is uphill it is not too steep. You will be walking through thick forests of pine and deodar trees with a picturesque meadow at the end. There is an option for overnight camping but you can also choose to return on the same day. Your call.

7. Prashar Lake

The trek to Prashar Lake is for advanced trekkers because it starts from a rocky road at Baggi and can take 6 hours to cover. In the winter, you may encounter some patches of ice too. But despite the difficulties, this is one of the most stunning trails and it’ll give you the best views of the lake. An overnight bus to Mandi and a local bus to Baggi are the easiest ways to get there. But you can also drive down straight from Delhi. No sweat.
